Ravens eye fourth straight win at Texans
Nov 4, 2008 - 10:19 PM BALTIMORE (5-3) AT HOUSTON (3-5), 1:00 pm ESTHOUSTON (Ticker) -- The Baltimore Ravens suddenly have an offense to go with their usually stout defense.
Riding a three-game winning streak, the Ravens play the second of three straight road games with a visit to the Houston Texans on Sunday.
This contest originally was scheduled for Week Two but it was postponed due to damage caused to Reliant Stadium by Hurricane Ike.
The scheduling quirk has forced Baltimore into a stretch where it plays five of six games away from home.
The Ravens opened the three-game road swing in impressive fashion, scoring the final 24 points en route to a 37-27 victory over the Cleveland Browns last weekend.
Rookie Joe Flacco threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns and rookie Ray Rice tore up the Browns for 154 yards on 21 carries as Baltimore erased a 14-point lead in the final 16 minutes, 10 seconds.
"When (Flacco and Rice) got drafted by the Baltimore Ravens, we expected them to play like that," first-year coach John Harbaugh said. "I think the defense is more proud of what the offense did than offense is."
Flacco, who inherited the job in the preseason due to injuries and illness, has flourished in the past three games.
After starting the season with one scoring pass and seven interceptions in his first five games, the 6-6 Flacco had four TD passes and no picks during the current winning streak.
"Your confidence is always growing," Flacco said. "You get more and more experience each week."
The Texans lost more than a game in last week's 28-21 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings. Quarterback Matt Schaub suffered a torn MCL in his left knee and will be sidelined up to four weeks.
"It's very frustrating," Houston coach Gary Kubiak said. "He's been playing as good as anyone I've been around the last few weeks. It's sad because he's making a ton of progress."
Sage Rosenfels finished 21-of-29 for 224 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in the loss to Minnesota, which snapped a three-game winning streak.
Texans wideout Andre Johnson was limited to four receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown, halting his record-tying streak of four consecutive games with at least 130 yards.
