Jaguars visit Dolphins for first time

Nov 29, 2006 - 12:17 AM Jacksonville (6-5) at Miami (5-6) Sunday 4:05 pm EST

MIAMI (Ticker) - The Jacksonville Jaguars' first visit to South Florida could not be coming at a worse time.

Trying to end their road struggles, the Jaguars face the red-hot Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

It marks just the third regular-season and fourth overall meeting between the teams. Jacksonville holds a 2-1 lead in the series, including a 62-7 mauling in a divisional playoff game in 1999.

Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio will be looking for improvement for his club on the road, where they are just 1-4 and have allowed 117 points. Jacksonville is 5-1 at home, having given up just 90 points.

The struggles for the Jaguars continued last week with a 27-24 loss to Buffalo. Jacksonville held a 323-241 advantage in total yards but hurt itself with 10 penalties for 108 yards.

David Garrard was efficient against the Bills, completing 16-of-22 passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Fred Taylor rushed for 101 yards and rookie Maurice Jones-Drew gained 78 to go along with a touchdown.

The Dolphins are conjuring up memories of last season when they finished with a six-game winning streak.

Following a woeful 1-6 start, Miami has reeled off four straight wins. Included in the run was handing Chicago its first loss and defeating Kansas City, which is fighting for a playoff spot.

The Dolphins could be without the services of running back Ronnie Brown, who underwent surgery for a broken left hand he suffered in a 27-10 victory at Detroit on Thanksgiving.

Joey Harrington also exacted a measure of revenge against the Lions, completing 19-of-29 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns with an interception.
