Texans, Raiders meet in battle of last-place teams

Nov 29, 2006 - 12:20 AM Houston (3-8) at Oakland (2-9) Sunday 4:05 pm EST

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Houston Texans visit the "Black Hole" for the first time in franchise history Sunday when they meet the Oakland Raiders.

The only other meeting between the teams came in 2004 in Houston, with the Texans posting a 30-17 victory.

With both teams already looking toward next season, this contest should be key when it comes time to help determine the order for April's NFL draft.

Houston already is set at quarterback with David Carr, so perhaps Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson could be a target should he leave school early.

The Raiders, who are tied with Arizona and Detroit for the NFL's worst record, could have their eyes on Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn.

Last week, Carr completed 39-of-54 passes for 321 yards and a touchdown with an interception in a 26-11 loss to the New York Jets. The running game was completely ineffective as the Texans managed just 25 rushing yards on 14 attempts.

The Raiders' latest losing streak reached four games following last week's 21-14 setback at San Diego. Rookie John Madsen was a bright spot, catching three passes for 69 yards and a touchdown.
