NFL Week 13 Monday Night Football Best Bets

New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Details

  • Opening Line: Buccaneers -6 | O/U 40
  • Current Line: Buccaneers -3.5 | O/U 40.5
  • Last meeting: September 18, 2022 – Buccaneers 20, Saints 10

UNDER 40.5 (-110 via DraftKings)

Over the last five weeks, these teams are averaging less than 20 ppg on offense and allowing less than 20 ppg on defense. Both metrics rank in the top 10 if looking to bet the under. The Bucs offense is third in the league in passing yards per game (277) over that span, but that has been the strength of the Saints’ defense. The Saints have allowed the second-fewest yards through the air (190) over their last five games. Both running games are averaging less than 90 yards per game as well on the ground, so I like the chances of the defense keeping this game under 40.5.

Saints +3.5 (-105 via FanDuel)

Having lost three of their last four behind an offense that is stalling seemingly every week, you have to wonder how long before a reportedly healthy Jameis Winston sees the field again. Jameis almost certainly gives the Saints a better chance to win than Dalton, and I think this could be the week we see Winston if the offense stalls early once again.

Having come down since opening at +6, the market largely agrees that this will be a field goal game or closer, as we’ve settled in right around +3 as the week has unfolded. With both teams in desperation mode, I’ll take the points with a Saints team that has been underperforming given the talent they have on their defense.

Mike Evans Any Time Touchdown Scorer (+150 via FanDuel)

Consider this last prop contingent on the status of Saints’ cover man Marshon Lattimore, who has missed a large chunk of the season after a brutal collision in Week 5. Lattimore has been practicing on a limited basis but still may not be ready to return to action on Monday.

If Lattimore is out once again, it’s time to fire up every Evans prop imaginable for this game. The battles between Evans and Lattimore are legendary, with the physical wide receiver having the propensity to participate in extra-curricular activities against the veteran DB. Typically, though, that comes out of frustration on Evans’ part as Lattimore has historically done a solid job of locking him up.

In the first meeting this season, Lattimore limited Evans to three receptions for 61 yards before the latter was ejected for shoving the former. If Lattimore can’t go, I expect Evans to take full advantage of the opportunity to find the end zone as his nemesis watches helplessly from the sideline.

The Evans’ touchdown odds are preferable at FanDuel, which lists the prop at +150. DraftKings has it at +140.
