Browns hosts Bengals in Crennel's possible home finale
Dec 16, 2008 - 4:27 PM Cincinnati (2-11-1) at Cleveland (4-10), 1:00 pm, ESTCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Cleveland Browns fans get one more opportunity to boo coach Romeo Crennel in person before they hope he hits the unemployment line.
The Browns host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday in what could be Crennel's final game at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
Home has been anything but sweet for the Browns (4-10), who are just 1-6 in Cleveland this year. The Browns' only home win was a 35-14 Monday night victory over the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants in Week Six.
Cleveland concludes its disastrous season next week at Pittsburgh - a team that Crennel never has beaten in his four seasons with the Browns.
Crennel's overall record dropped to 24-38 following Monday's 30-10 loss at Philadelphia, Cleveland's fourth straight defeat. The Browns got a late defensive touchdown - a small victory in itself since their offense hasn't reached the end zone in 16 quarters.
Journeyman Ken Dorsey, who took over after Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn suffered season-ending injuries, will make his third straight start against the Bengals.
In his first two starts, Dorsey combined to complete just 33-of-74 passes for just 306 yards and four interceptions. During their four-game slide, the Browns have managed eight field goals and a defensive TD.
In Week 16 last season, the Bengals essentially ended the Browns' playoff hopes with a 19-14 victory in Cincinnati.
There are no high stakes on the line in this one - just a pair of AFC also-rans closing out miserable campaigns.
The Bengals (2-11-1) did get their second win of the season last week with a 20-13 victory over the Washington Redskins.
Cincinnati does have an outside chance to jump over the Browns and avoid finishing in last place in the AFC North.
In the early meeting this season, the Browns rallied for 17 points in the fourth quarter to beat the Bengals, 20-12, in Week Four.
