The Splash Zone 1/26/23: Dolphins begin interviews for defensive coordinator

Yesterday, the Miami Dolphins interviewed two candidates for their vacant defensive coordinator position. Over the weekend we learned that the team had put in a request to interview Seattle Seahawks defensive assistant and associate head coach, Sean Desai, who was one of two to interview. The other person was Vic Fangio, a fan favorite to land the job. Mike McDaniel wanted to bring Fangio in last year to take care of the defense, but Fangio wanted a year away and served as a defensive consultant for the Philadelphia Eagles.

The team also put in a request to interview New Orleans Saints co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach, Kris Richard. You may recognize Richard’s name from the Dolphins 2019 head coach search as he was in contention to get the job before the team hired Brian Flores.
