Super Bowl Betting Mistakes to Avoid

The Super Bowl LVII kickoff is just over a week away, and gamblers have already started setting up their wagers. Let’s look at the top mistakes to avoid while placing your bets.

1. Delaying betting till the following week

Following Sunday night’s AFC Championship game, the betting line (Chiefs -1, O/U 50) opened up and almost instantly saw action. While those numbers remained for a while, there has already been a shift toward the Under and the Eagles (Eagles -1.5, O/U 49.5).

I wouldn’t wait much longer if you like either.

2. Placing Dozens of Prop Bets

As many people are aware, there is no shortage of Super Bowl betting props. Everything is available, including the National Anthem, in-game props, and the color of the Gatorade shower.

Be deliberate and wise in your choices.

3. Hearing excessive coverage

Starting on Sunday, this game will be covered by everyone and everybody, whether it be ESPN, Fox Sports, or your local news. So, based on your study, establish your own opinions, and steer clear of popular perceptions.

Look for opportunities to be contrarian.

4. Placing Huge Parlays Bets

This is a wise general betting guideline, but the reality is that parlays are rarely profitable bets, especially when three or more bets are involved. Therefore, resist the urge to cash in on +50000 payments with a chance of less than 1%.

4. Discounting Super Bowl Experience

Yes, the field is the same size, and the game still lasts for 60 minutes over four quarters. But this is not merely a game.

Look for players (and coaches) who have prior experience here and are familiar with the environment throughout the week leading up to the game.

6. Placing All Your Bets at One Sportsbook

Varying sportsbooks will have slightly different figures posted, particularly when it comes to props. Therefore, be careful to shop at a variety of places.

7. Holding off on placing a wager until after a few Sunday afternoon

Anyone who bets while drinking alcohol will understand exactly what I mean. No further justification is required.

8. Super Bowl Squares

Without a doubt, square pools are not the same as sports betting, even though I may participate in it. Except if you hit a crucial number (7, 3, or 0), which gives you a best-case 21% chance of winning, there is no edge. Otherwise, your chances of winning a square bet are less than 10%.

9. Placing bets of improper sizes

It’s not necessary to place a large wager just because this is a major game. Maintain the same unit size as you have all season.

10. Avoiding Money Line Sprinkles (if You Like the Underdog)

If the Underdog is a favorite against the spread, consider adding a little to the money line as well. The last four Super Bowl underdogs, according to the odds, all triumphed hands-down.
