Eagles start three-game road trip, meet Redskins
Dec 5, 2006 - 8:36 PM Philadelphia (6-6) at Washington (4-8) Sunday 1:00 pm ESTLANDOVER, Maryland (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia Eagles received no favors from the schedule maker.
Trying to make a push for a playoff spot, the Eagles begin a three-game road trip against NFC East foes Sunday when they visit the Washington Redskins.
While the division appears to be out of reach since they trail Dallas by two games, the Eagles are one of four teams in the conference with a 6-6 record, along with the New York Giants, Carolina and Atlanta.
However, the Eagles have a difficult schedule. After this contest, they visit the Giants and Dallas in the next weeks before closing the season at home against Atlanta.
The Eagles have struggled away from home, losing three straight since posting double-digit wins over Houston and San Francisco in their first two road contests.
Without five-time Pro Bowl quarterback Donovan McNabb for the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL in his right knee, the Eagles received a lift from Jeff Garcia in Monday night's 27-24 victory against Carolina. Garcia completed 21-of-39 passes for 312 yards and three touchdowns in his second start since McNabb went down.
Donte' Stallworth caught an 84-yard touchdown pass from McNabb and cornerback Sheldon Brown returned an interception 70 yards for a score to lead the Eagles to a 27-3 victory over Washington on November 12.
After making the playoffs and winning a wild card game last season, the Redskins' only have slim postseason aspirations. They are in last place in the East, two games behind the Giants and Eagles, who are tied for second.
Ladell Betts rushed for a career-high 155 yards and touchdown in the Redskins' 24-14 loss to Atlanta last Sunday.
