Raiders host Rams in matchup of woeful teams

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Oakland Raiders look to snap a six-game losing streak Sunday when they host the St. Louis Rams in an interconference game.

In coach Art Shell's first season back on the sidelines, the Raiders are tied with Detroit for the NFL's worst record. Since the Raiders lost to Tampa Bay in Super Bowl XXXVII, they are just 15-46.

The biggest problems for the Raiders this season have been an offense which ranks last in the league at 243.3 yards per game. They are 31st in scoring at 12.0 points per contest.

Defensively, the Raiders rank first against the pass and sixth overall.

Last week, the Raiders continued their losing ways with a 27-10 setback at Cincinnati. Aaron Brooks completed 23-of-39 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown with an interception.

Under first-year coach Scott Linehan, the Rams have lost seven of their last eight games following a 4-1 start.

While the Raiders have played well defensively, the Rams have struggled on that side of the ball. They rank 31st against the run and 22nd overall under coordinator Jim Haslett.

One of the major bright spots for the Rams has been running back Steven Jackson, who leads the NFC with 1,789 yards (1,109 rushing, 680 receiving) from scrimmage. He leads the NFC with 82 receptions.

Jackson rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown and had 10 receptions for 58 yards and a score in last Monday's 42-27 loss to Chicago.
