Berlin rallies from 21-point deficit, beats Cologne
May 5, 2007 - 8:15 PM COLOGNE, Germany (Ticker) -- Damien Rhodes scored on an 11-yard run with 1:12 left in the fourth quarter to lead the Berlin Thunder to a come-from-behind 31-28 victory over the Cologne Centurions on Saturday.Travis Lulay completed passes of 11 yards to Rich Musinski and 14 yards to Carlton Brewster before Rhodes ran in for the winning score.
Cologne (2-2) built a 21-0 lead with three touchdowns in the first 15 1/2 minutes, including a pair of scoring passes from Erik Meyer to Jovon Bouknight
Chris Barclay started the comeback for Berlin (2-2) when he returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown with 14:21 left in the second quarter.
A little more than five minutes later, Lulay hit tight end Charles Davis with a 10-yard scoring pass to pull the Thunder within 21-14.
Derrick Ross scored on a one-yard run with 3:36 left in the second quarter to increase Cologne's lead to 28-14. But the Centurions failed to score in the second half.
Berlin's Andrew Jacas kicked a 43-yard field goal with 6:45 left in the third quarter and Berlin pulled within 28-24 when Lulay connected with Brewster on a 55-yard touchdown 3:49 into the fourth quarter.
