Stars take down Bruins
Jan 1, 2012 - 7:01 AM Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Trevor Daley had a goal and two assists to lift the Dallas Stars to a 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins.Tom Wandell had a goal and an assist while Loui Eriksson and Michael Ryder each scored for the Stars, who snapped a two-game slide. Kari Lehtonen made 18 saves for the win.
"We knew it was going to be a hard game tonight because they're one of the best in the league," said Ryder. "We got off to a good start and we're able to hold them off in the last 20 minutes. Hopefully this is a step forward for us."
Milan Lucic and Tyler Seguin scored for the Bruins, who had won seven straight coming into the game. Tim Thomas was tagged for all four goals on 27 shots in the loss.
The first goal of the game went to Dallas as the team scored on the power play when Alex Goligoski used a fake shot then passed the puck over to the right, where Eriksson one-timed it home at the 3:21 mark.
The Bruins tied the game with 8:21 to play in the first as David Krejci's shot from the slot was tipped in by Seguin in front of the net.
Just over five minutes later, the Stars got the lead back on Daley's fourth of the year and took a 3-1 lead when Ryder took a pass at the right circle, made a move around the defender and shot the puck into the net with 40 seconds to play in the first.
With one minute to play in the second, the Stars made it a 4-1 game on a 2- on-1 break when Adam Burish sent a pass from the right circle to the front and Wandell redirected it in.
The Bruins made it a 4-2 game 1:08 into the third on Lucic's one-timer from the slot, but couldn't cut any further into their deficit.

Dallas hosts Detroit on Tuesday...Boston plays in New Jersey on Wednesday...The Bruins had won the previous three games against Dallas...Dallas went 2-for-6 on the power play, while Boston went 0-for-3.
