Quick sets Kings record with third straight shutout

Oct 23, 2011 - 6:30 AM Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Jonathan Quick set a Kings record by posting his third straight shutout, as Los Angeles edged the Dallas Stars, 1-0, at Staples Center.

Quick, who blanked the Blues and Coyotes earlier this week, made 28 saves to set the franchise mark. He has not allowed a goal in 188:10, another Los Angeles record.

Andrew Raycroft matched Quick for the first 55 minutes before Jack Johnson scored the game's only goal with 4:58 remaining. Raycroft finished with 23 saves.

Johnson's game-winner from the right point appeared to carom off the back of a Dallas defenseman in front, then sailed into the top left corner of the net.

"That was probably our best game," Raycroft said. "It felt like we were going to win. They got a lucky shot that found a hole. I didn't see the shot at all."

Quick made 10 saves in the first period, 11 in the second and seven in the third, including stopping Loui Eriksson from in close in the waning seconds.

"It feels great, but it's one game. It's a long season. The guys are battling in the defensive zone and making my job a lot easier," said a humble Quick.

The last goalie to record three straight shutouts was Columbus' Steve Mason, who accomplished the feat in the 2008-09 season.

The Kings have won four straight, while Dallas had its five-game winning streak snapped.
