Flames run win streak against Avs to seven

Nov 7, 2011 - 3:49 AM Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Curtis Glencross' second-period goal proved to be the difference, as the Calgary Flames beat the Colorado Avalanche, 2-1.

Mark Giordano also lit the lamp for the Flames, who have won seven in a row against Colorado. Miikka Kiprusoff made 32 saves.

Paul Stastny scored the lone goal for the Avalanche, who have lost three straight games. Semyon Varlamov made 21 saves.

Stastny put home a rebound just 34 seconds into the game to give Colorado a 1-0 lead.

"We got that early goal and then we just got too cute," Stastny said.

Giordano's wrister from the left point found the back of the net at the 5:19 mark to make it 1-1.

The Flames took the lead at the 5:54 mark of the middle stanza. Alex Tanguay's pass from the high slot hit off Glencross' arm and beat Varlamov for a 2-1 edge.

"Alex just got a pass over to me," Glencross said. "I just tried to tuck-and- cradle it and the puck hit me in the arm and went in."

Kiprusoff made 15 saves in the third period to seal the victory.
