Hiller records shutout, Ducks down Oilers

Jan 14, 2012 - 6:10 AM Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Jonas Hiller stopped 33 shots for his second shutout of the season and Corey Perry scored twice as the Anaheim Ducks took a 5-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

Bobby Ryan, Teemu Selanne and Jason Blake all had a goal while Ryan Getzlaf tallied four helpers for the Ducks, who have won four of five.

"Right now we're just taking it game by game and that's all you can do," said Blake. "We can't get back into the hunt if we don't win hockey games, so that is what we have to focus on doing."

Nikolai Khabibulin, who turned 39 on Friday, gave up three goals on 14 shots before being pulled in the second. Devan Dubnyk gave up two goals on 14 shots the rest of the way for Edmonton, which has dropped five straight.

"It's really tough to go through the losing like we do," said Oilers forward Sam Gagner. "All we can do is put in hard work at practice and get good habits and turn ourselves into a winner."

Anaheim scored eight minutes in on Blake's first of the year on his slap shot from the left circle.

Selanne made it a 2-0 game just 1:46 into the second on the power play as his sneaky backhander from the right side got into the net.

With 9:06 to play in the third, the Ducks got another goal when Getzlaf's backhand pass from the left circle to the low left side saw Ryan sweep the puck in.

Less than three minutes later, Perry was sprung on a breakaway and had his initial shot stopped, but followed up his rebound and got that one in.

Late in the third, Selanne threw a shot on net from the left circle that Perry got a stick on for his 20th of the year to cap the scoring.

Selanne now has 652 goals in his career, four back of Brendan Shanahan for 12th all-time...Hiller has 13 career shutouts...The Ducks play in Vancouver on Sunday...Edmonton hosts Los Angeles on Sunday...The Ducks have won nine of 10 against Edmonton.
