Stars nip Flames in OT

Feb 17, 2012 - 7:44 AM Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Mike Ribeiro's goal in overtime sent the Stars to a 3-2 win over the Flames on Thursday.

Adam Burish and Steve Ott scored in regulation while Ribeiro added an assist, helping the Stars halt a three-game skid. Kari Lehtonen made 25 saves.

The Flames, who saw their two-game win streak come to an end, got goals from Jarome Iginla and Mike Cammalleri and 29 stops from Miikka Kiprusoff.

"What a sick individual play by Mike Ribeiro to cap off a big goal," admired Ott.

The goal was indeed impressive, as Ribeiro gathered the puck along the left boards, wrapped it around his back to elude a defender and moved to center ice for a long slap shot past Kiprusoff at the 2:01 mark.

Earlier, Ott and Ribeiro had given the Stars a 2-1 lead after Burish and Iginla traded goals in the opening period. On the power play with less than three minutes left in the second, Ribeiro wrapped a pass around his back to Ott, who fired a slap shot from the right side past a screened Kiprusoff.

Cammalleri, though, evened the score with 5:03 left in regulation. Jay Bouwmeester set up the tally, centering the puck from the left boards and Cammalleri was there to send it home.

"We had some chances in the third period and we're able to stick with it," said Iginla. "It's an important point to get here, but it would have been better to get both of them."
