Ryder lifts Stars over Blackhawks

Feb 24, 2012 - 5:54 AM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Michael Ryder scored the winner as Dallas used a big third period to take a 3-1 win over Chicago at United Center.

Steve Ott and Loui Eriksson both scored for the Stars, who have won their past two. Richard Bachman stopped 26 shots in the win.

"We've been keeping things simple and going back to the basics," said Ryder. "We struggled at the beginning of the season, but we've been turning things around here and have to get back at it tomorrow."

Marian Hossa scored the lone goal of the game for the Blackhawks, who were riding a four-game winning streak. Corey Crawford was tagged for all three goals on 25 shots.

"This was tough because we felt like we had things going pretty good," said Hossa. "But the puck wasn't bouncing our way in the third period and they took advantage of their chances."

Dallas came into the third period trailing, 1-0, but Ott tied the game near the midway mark of the frame when Trevor Daley sent a shot on net from the high slot that Ott tipped in.

It was a 2-1 game with 5:02 to play in the game as another redirect, this time by Ryder off a Mike Ribeiro shot, got past Crawford.

Eriksson gave the Stars a 3-1 lead just 1:14 later as he tapped in a Ryder shot that had bounced into the air from the right side for his 19th of the year.

After a scoreless first period, Chicago got on the board when Michael Frolik stole the puck and charged the net to get the puck on goal with Hossa cleaning up the garbage for his 24th of the season.
