Ducks play spoiler with win over Sharks

Mar 29, 2012 - 5:51 AM Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Bobby Ryan, Teemu Selanne and Corey Perry had a goal apiece and the Ducks earned a 3-1 win over the Sharks, who fell out of first place in the Pacific Division as a result.

Jonas Hiller made 28 saves for Anaheim, which was eliminated from playoff contention during the contest courtesy of wins by Dallas and Los Angeles.

The Stars grabbed control of first place in the Pacific with a 3-1 win over Edmonton and the Sharks dropped into a tie with the Kings for seventh place in the Western Conference standings.

Ryane Clowe had a goal and Antti Niemi stopped 25-of-27 shots in the setback.

"This is disappointing, but we've still got chances," said San Jose forward Joe Pavelski. "Five still coming up and we've got to win."

Midway through the second, Devante Smith-Pelly fed a charging Ryan for a one- time tally and a 1-0 Anaheim advantage. Clowe tied it less than a minute later, getting the puck past an out of position Hiller off of Logan Couture's feed from behind the boards.

Selanne notched the eventual game-winner 5:22 in the third when he redirected a slap shot from Luca Sbisa. The Sharks failed to find the equalizer, though. Hiller stopped nine shots in the period and Perry recorded an empty netter in the final minute.

"We're still playing," said Perry. "You can't take nights off."
