Jagr, Stars top Kings

Mar 8, 2013 - 6:51 AM Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Jaromir Jagr scored two goals and the Dallas Stars upended the Los Angeles Kings, 5-2, in a Pacific Division battle at Staples Center.

Cody Eakin added a goal and assisted on Brenden Morrow's go-ahead tally in the third period for the Stars, who have won three of four.

Kari Lehtonen made 31 saves to pick up the win and snap the Kings' six-game home winning streak.

Trevor Lewis and Jeff Carter lit the lamp for Los Angeles, while Jonathan Quick gave up four goals on 21 shots in the setback.

The Kings were riding a 7-1 stretch, but watched Dallas scored three unanswered goals in the third period. Morrow broke a 2-2 tie 5:16 into the final period when he was left open on the right doorstep and swiped in Eakin's pass.

Quick stopped Trevor Daley and Jamie Benn near the midway point, but his kick save on Benn went directly to Jagr for an easy tap-in at the 9:40 mark.

"They got in behind our coverage and found a way to score," Kings forward Dustin Brown said. "We made some errors and they capitalized on them."

Antoine Roussel added an empty-netter with 1:41 remaining to seal the win.

With Dallas on the power play early on, Jagr one-timed Benn's cross-ice pass to open the scoring at 5:28 of the first period.

"I have more hunger for goals than I did last year," said Jagr, who has nine goals in 22 games this year after 19 in 73 last season with the Flyers.

Lewis answered with a wrister from the left circle that beat Lehtonen far side with 7:50 remaining in the opening stanza.

Late in the second period, Carter put a shot on net that deflected off the skate of Stars defenseman Jordie Benn and snuck through for a 2-1 lead.

The lucky bounce came with 4:30 remaining in the second, and Eakin tied things 3:16 later on the power play when he poked a bouncing puck through the defense and chipped a backhander past Quick.
