Avalanche top Flames

Dec 7, 2013 - 5:20 AM Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Maxime Talbot tallied a goal and an assist as the Colorado Avalanche posted a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Friday.

PA Parenteau and Nathan MacKinnon scored, while Jean-Sebastien Giguere posted 26 saves to improve to 7-0-0 on the season for the Avalanche, who have won three of their last four.

Kris Russell had a goal and an assist and Matt Stajan scored the other goal for the Flames, who were going for a season-high third straight win. Karri Ramo allowed all three goals on 25 shots.

Calgary got the initial lead of the game at 7:01 of the first on the power play as Russell got a pass at the top of the left circle and drifted over to the slot before slapping it home.

Colorado tied the game with two minutes left in the second period as Ramo misplayed the puck to the left of his net when John Mitchell grabbed the disc and centered it to Talbot for the easy tap-in.

Less than a minute later, the Avs took a 2-1 lead as Talbot rushed the puck out front from the right boards and had his shot stopped, but the rebound came to the slot and Parenteau buried it.

It was 3-1 for the Avs at 2:28 of the third as MacKinnon whipped in a rebound from the left side for his sixth of the year.

Calgary made it a one-goal game with 1:55 to play, but was unable to net the equalizer with Ramo pulled late.
