Flames clip Oilers in overtime

Dec 8, 2013 - 8:26 AM Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Jiri Hudler scored 3:14 into overtime as the Calgary Flames took a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.

"Jiri deserves lots of credit, he was sick, he left the game last night and went home sick,"Flames head coach Bob Hartley said. "It was a gutsy effort."

Kris Russell picked off a clearing attempt along the right boards and skated over to the left point. His pass made it through a pair of defenders and floated down to the low right side where Hudler one-timed it home for the win.

Lee Stempniak scored the other goal while Reto Berra stopped 30 shots for the Flames, who have won three of their last four games.

Taylor Hall scored late in regulation to send the game to overtime, while Devan Dubnyk stopped 25 shots for the Oilers, who have lost two of their last three.

Edmonton tied the game with 10.3 seconds to play in regulation with Dubnyk pulled as David Perron threw the puck on net from a sharp angle at the left side, with Hall snapping it in for his 11th of the season.

"It was nice to score that goal late. It was a huge rush and a boost for the team to send it into overtime," Hall said.

The only other goal in the game came with four minutes to play in the second period as Stempniak grabbed the puck in the neutral zone and skated down the right side before snapping it past Dubnyk for his sixth of the year.

Berra made 11 stops in the second period, while Dubnyk stopped 10.
