Oilers blank Blue Jackets

Nov 20, 2013 - 7:03 AM Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - David Perron had two goals and two assists as the Edmonton Oilers cruised to a 7-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

Jordan Eberle, Nail Yakupov and Ryan Smyth added one goal and one assist, while Taylor Hall and Justin Schultz finished with one goal apiece for the Oilers, who have won two straight on the heels of a five-game slide.

"I doubt it's going to be 7-0 every night, but I feel that we did get some bounces tonight," Perron said.

Devan Dubnyk turned aside all 14 shots he faced in the win.

Sergei Bobrovsky allowed four goals on 18 shots and Curtis McElhinney allowed three goals on 14 shots for the Blue Jackets, losers in nine of their last 11 games.

"I'm just really, really disappointed," Columbus head coach Todd Richards said. "We weren't ready to play the game."

Eberle opened the scored 2:37 in with a wrister off a rebound on the left side of the net.

Perron's first goal of the game came at the 12:01 mark with a backhander off his own miss.

Smyth tipped in a Sam Gagner shot with 3:54 left in the first for a 3-0 lead.

Perron lit the lamp with a one-timer 8 1/2 minutes into the middle session and Yakupov's wrister just over two minutes later made it a five-goal game.

Schultz one-timed a Perron feed at the 15:25 mark for a 6-0 edge and Hall added a goal with 3:17 left for the final margin.

Game Notes

Eberle has 12 assists this season, and reached 100 for his career with his helper in the third period ... The Blue Jackets had a season-low 14 shots ... Edmonton went 3-for-4 on the power play ... The Oilers won at home for the first time since Oct. 7 when they beat the New Jersey Devils 5-4 in a shootout.
