Bryzgalov departs, but Oilers top Stars in SO

Dec 2, 2013 - 2:34 AM Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Eberle and David Perron tallied shootout goals to lead the Edmonton Oilers to a 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars from American Airlines Center.

Following Jamie Benn's miss on the opening attempt, Eberle skated in and snuck a forehand between the pad of Kari Lehtonen and the post for the early advantage. Rich Peverley then scored for the Stars, but Perron lifted the puck just below the crossbar for the eventual game-winner on Edmonton's next try. Alex Chiasson had a chance to extend the shootout, but lost the puck as he skated in.

Ales Hemsky and Andrew Ference scored in regulation for the Oilers, who overcame the loss of netminder Ilya Bryzgalov in the victory. Bryzgalov stopped 28-of-29 shots before leaving the game with an undisclosed injury late in the second period. Devan Dubnyk took his place between the pipes and made 15 saves.

Ryan Garbutt netted both Dallas goals, as the Stars fell in a shootout for the second consecutive tilt. Lehtonen made 30 saves in defeat.

After a scoreless first period, Garbutt lit the lamp midway through the second after stealing the puck from Denis Grebeshkov near center ice and skating in uncontested on Bryzgalov.

Following a scrum in the Dallas zone late in the period, Hemsky received a feed in front from Ryan Jones and tapped it in five seconds before the second intermission.

Less than four minutes into the third, Antoine Roussel led a 2-on-1 odd man rush and found Garbutt for a 2-1 lead.

Dallas held its advantage until 14:53 of the final period, when Ference slapped home his second goal of the season to force overtime.
