Huselius leads Flames over Sharks

Sep 26, 2007 - 4:28 AM CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Kristian Huselius scored two goals and added another in the shootout as the Calgary Flames edged the San Jose Sharks, 3-2, on Tuesday in a preseason matchup.

Craig Conroy provided the decisive goal in the shootout before Sharks center Curtis Brown with his attempt to seal the victory for the Flames. Huselius and the newly-acquired Owen Nolan scored the other goals for Calgary while Jonathan Cheechoo and Patrick Marleau tallied for San Jose in the shootout.

After the Sharks jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage, the Flames cut the deficit in half when Huselius scored a power-play goal at the 12:31 mark of the first period. Huselius netted another in the second period on an unassisted effort to tie the game at 2-2.

Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff surrendered two goals in the first 2:04 of the game but he settled down and shutdown the Sharks offense for the remainder of the contest, collecting 32 saves in the process.

Marleau scored just 30 seconds into the contest and Patrick Rissmiller tallied less than two minutes later to give San Jose a 2-0 edge.
