Moore scores twice to lift Leafs over Sabres

Sep 23, 2008 - 2:36 AM TORONTO (Ticker) -- Dominic Moore scored two goals and Jason Blake handed out a pair of assists as the Toronto Maple Leafs won a high-scoring clash with the Buffalo Sabres, 7-4, on Monday night.

After the Sabres jumped out in front 45 seconds into the game on Marek Zagrapan's power-play goal, the Leafs took over for the duration of the next two periods.

Moore answered seven minutes later, picking up a loose puck in his offensive zone and blasting in a wrist shot, somehow finding the only sliver of space in the top left corner over goaltender Ryan Miller's right shoulder.

He added another score in the middle of a raucous stretch in the third period, during which six goals were scored. With the Leafs holding a 5-3 lead and the Sabres on a power play, Moore took off on a breakaway on the right side and shoveled in his second tally of the night just before colliding with the goal.

The Maple Leafs held a 4-1 advantage through two periods before the game broke open in the third. With Toronto leading, 5-2, three goals were scored in a span of 3:14 as the Sabres cut their deficit to 6-4. But Jiri Tlusty's empty-net goal in the final minute sealed the victory for the Leafs.

Toronto goalie Curtis Joseph played briefly, stopping four of five shots. Buffalo's Zagrapan registered three points - a goal and two assists.

Carlo Colaiacovo, Boyd Devereaux, Matt Stajan and Robbie Earl each chipped in with a goal for Toronto.
