Third-period burst pushes Ducks past Sharks

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- Corey Perry scored two power-play goals in the third period as the Anaheim Ducks erased a two-goal deficit and defeated the San Jose Sharks, 6-4, on Wednesday in the preseason opener for both teams.

Bobby Ryan also scored two goals and set up another while Ryan Getzlaf had a tally and three assists to pace Anaheim. Defenseman Kent Huskins added a pair of assists.

The Sharks, who scored twice on the power play and once shorthanded, got a goal and an assist from Devin Setoguchi and two assists from both Mike Grier and defenseman Mike Moore as Todd McLellan lost in his debut as the team's coach.

Anaheim trailed, 4-2, early in the third period before Ryan started a four-goal onslaught at 5:35, knocking in a loose puck from in front of the net.

Perry scored at 8:07 and 12:10 to put Anaheim ahead, and Matt Stefanishion scored an insurance goal with 5:48 remaining to provide the game's final margin.

Anaheim's Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 30 saves, while rookie Thomas Greiss stopped 22 shots for San Jose.

While San Jose and Anaheim spent last season fighting for the Pacific Division title, they spent their preseason opener Wednesday night mostly just fighting. Six brawls broke out, including four in the first period alone.
