Third-period burst helps Sharks top Ducks

Sep 27, 2008 - 5:36 AM SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- The San Jose Sharks scored three goals in the first 6:42 of the third period en route to a 5-2 preseason victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.

With the game even at 1-1, defenseman Dan Boyle snapped the tie just 33 seconds into the final session. The veteran, who also set up a goal, was making his debut with the Sharks after being acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning over the summer.

Mike Moore made it 3-1 at 5:29, and fellow blue-liner Alexei Semenov completed the spurt 63 seconds later. Jamie McGinn, who also had an assist, converted during a power play with 7:39 remaining in the period to give the Sharks a 5-1 bulge.

Joe Pavelski opened the scoring with a man-advantage goal at 3:56 of the third period and added an assist for San Jose, which limited Anaheim to 18 shots - including three in the opening session.

Milan Michalek collected two assists and Vezina Trophy finalist Evgeni Nabokov made 16 saves for the Sharks.

Andrew Ebbett and enforcer George Parros scored while Jonas Hiller turned aside 32 shots for Anaheim.
