Nielsen, Hunter help Islanders to Panthers

Sep 28, 2008 - 3:02 AM SUMMERSIDE, Prince Edward Islan (Ticker) -- Frans Nielsen and Trent Hunter put on an offensive display for the New York Islanders.

Nielsen and Hunter combined for four goals and three assists as the Islanders skated past the Florida Panthers, 4-2, in a preseason game at Credit Union Place on Saturday.

Nielsen buried the rebound of defenseman Mark Streit's shot during a 5-on-3 power play less than seven minutes into the game to give New York the lead. The 24-year-old Dane set up Hunter for a man-advantage goal just over eight minutes into the second period to make it 2-0 before stealing a pass and feeding Hunter for another tally at 2:30 of the third for a 3-1 bulge.

Hunter returned the favor just over four minutes later, dishing to Nielsen for a wrist shot that beat goaltender Craig Anderson.

Joey MacDonald made 18 saves for the Islanders, who held a 29-20 advantage in shots.

Michal Repik and Drew Larman scored for Florida.
