Two-goal third pushes Ducks past punchless Coyotes

Sep 28, 2008 - 5:14 AM GLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Defenseman Francois Beauchemin and Travis Moen scored third-period goals to lead the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-1 preseason triumph over the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday.

With the game even at 1-1, Beauchemin beat former teammate Ilya Bryzgalov with a slap shot at 2:09 of the third to put Anaheim ahead. Moen added insurance at 8:31, firing a slapper past the Russian goaltender while shorthanded for a 3-1 bulge.

Troy Bodie opened the scoring for the Ducks at 3:40 of the first, but Daniel Carcillo - who led the NHL with 324 penalty minutes last season - netted a power-play goal with 50 seconds remaining in the session to forge a tie.

Carcillo's tally was Phoenix's eighth in four preseason games - all losses. The 28th overall pick in this past June's draft, Viktor Tikhonov recorded an assist, his third point in three exhibition contests.

Bryzgalov made 14 saves in a losing effort, while former Coyote David LeNeveu turned aside 26 shots for the Ducks.
