Murray faces old team as Blues host Kings

Dec 21, 2006 - 3:38 PM Los Angeles (12-18-5) at St Louis (8-19-6) 8:00 pm EST

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- Andy Murray picked up his first win as St. Louis Blues coach. On Thursday, he will try to continue his success against his old club.

Murray will lead the Blues, who have lost seven straight home contests, when they host the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.

In his fifth game with St. Louis, Murray finally picked up his first victory. Doug Weight had a goal and an assist and Bill Guerin added his 13th tally as St. Louis snapped an 11-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Two days later, Murray will try to pick up his second win against the team that fired him in 2005-06.

Murray was terminated by the Kings, who could not put together any consistent play last campaign. Los Angeles went winless during one seven-game stretch, followed it up with a winning streak before the Olympic break, but then went on another skid. They missed the playoffs and Murray was out of a job.

Rookie Anze Kopitar had two goals and an assist and Dustin Brown had a power-play tally for the Kings in a 5-3 loss to Calgary on Tuesday. Los Angeles has lost two straight.

The Kings have won five straight against the Blues.
