Struggling Devils look to regroup vs Capitals

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Devils have been struggling lately and look to get back on track when they visit the Washington Capitals on Friday.

The Devils, 1-3-1 in their last five, have won nine of the last 10 meetings with Washington. However, the Devils suffered another loss, 4-3, in a shootout to the Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday.

Jamie Langenbrunner led the Devils with a goal and an assist while Sergei Brylin and Johnny Oduya also scored. But in the shootout, Zach Parisi and Brian Gionta were denied while Martin Brodeur was scored on twice.

Brodeur is 28-10-0 with four ties and has registered six shutouts in 43 career appearances against the Capitals.

Washington has been playing well lately in going 7-2-1 in its last 10 games, but suffered a 5-4 home loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.

Alexander Ovechkin has been on fire for the Capitals and owns an eight-game points streak in which he has seven goals and 11 assists. Ovechkin had two goals in the loss to Tampa Bay.
