Maple Leafs hope to bounce back from bad home loss

TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs did not give their fans much reason to cheer the last time they took the ice at Air Canada Centre.

The Maple Leafs hope to rebound from an atrocious home loss when they host the Washington Capitals on Saturday.

Toronto suffered a 7-3 loss here to the Florida Panthers on Tuesday, yielding seven consecutive goals during a 31-minute stretch bridging the first and third periods.

Johnny Pohl scored the lone goal for the Maple Leafs in a 3-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday.

Toronto lost center Michael Peca with a knee injury late in the first period when he collided with Chicago defenseman Jim Vandermeer.

The Capitals were also not sharp on Friday, dropping a 4-1 decision to the New Jersey Devils.

Chris Clark scored the lone goal for Washington, which fired 35 shots at New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur.
