Klemm, Boucher help lift Stars over Oilers

Dec 24, 2006 - 6:37 AM DALLAS (Ticker) -- Defensemen Philippe Boucher and Jon Klemm did their part to help the Dallas Stars end their recent misfortune at home.

Boucher scored the eventual game-winning goal and Klemm had a tally and an assist as the Stars held off the Edmonton Oilers, 3-2, to end their three-game home losing streak.

Boucher netted the decisive goal at 7:58 of the second period when he snapped a wrist shot past goaltnder Dwayne Roloson off a setup from Eric Lindros and Klemm for a 3-0 lead.

"It's not something I expect but I like to contribute," said Boucher, who has 12 goals this season. "I've learned to shoot better, ... not just throw the puck at the net, but do something with it."

Earlier, Klemm gave the Stars a 1-0 lead at 10:44 of the first period with his first goal of the season. He took a pass from Lindros from behind the Edmonton net and snapped the puck past Roloson.

"I'd much rather be in the lineup than sitting in the stands in street clothes," Klemm said. "At least I feel involved. It's nice to contribute offensively and get the win."

Klemm was recently moved up to a line with Lindros and Matthew Barnaby, who collected an assist for his 300th career point.

"I'd rather be in the lineup and I don't care where they put me," Klemm said. "I just want to contribute to the team. I don't change much from what I'm trying to do when I play defense. Strong positional play and good defense."

Trailing 3-0, the Oilers got back in the game with a pair of power-play goals in the second period.

Marc-Andre Bergeron scored his fifth of the campaign with 6:52 left in the session before Joffrey Lupul netted his 11th with just 30 seconds remaining in the period.

"I never felt like we were going to be out of the game," Edmonton coach Craig MacTavish said. "When it was 3-0, I thought the game was getting away from us, but I still felt pretty confident that we could get back in the game."
