Flyers open eight-game road swing against Panthers

SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia Flyers hope a lengthy journey can help them overcome a forgettable month.

The Flyers look to halt a nine-game losing streak Wednesday when they begin an eight-game road trip against the Florida Panthers.

Since its last victory, a 3-2 triumph over the New York Islanders on November 30, Philadelphia has lost all its December contests by a combined score of 38-18. The Flyers have dropped 12 of 17 road contests this season.

Kyle Calder had a goal and an assist and Ben Eager and Jeff Carter added a tally each for the Flyers in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Ottawa Senators.

After winning three consecutive games, the Panthers were swept in a home-and-home series against the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes.

Nathan Horton scored twice - his first multi-goal contest of the campaign - for the Panthers in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to Carolina.

Jozef Stumpel scored a shorthanded goal and captain Olli Jokinen added a power-play tally for Florida in a 3-2 win over Philadelphia on October 20.
