Islanders aim to bounce back, face lowly Flyers

UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- The New York Islanders will look to put an end to their three-game losing streak when they face the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.

The Islanders fell, 3-1, to the Buffalo Sabres on Monday. Jason Blake tallied the lone goal for Buffalo, which ended its goal scoreless streak at 186 minutes, 31 seconds.

Goaltender Rick DiPietro stopped 31 shots for the Islanders, who were 0-for-3 on the power play.

The Flyers received goals from five different players and Peter Forsberg added three assists to post a 5-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. This was their second consecutive win after a team-record 10 straight losses.

Goaltender Robert Esche made 40 saves for Philadelphia, which was 1-for-4 with the extra skater.

The Islanders have split their two games with the Flyers this season.
