Wild can set franchise mark with ninth straight home win
Jan 4, 2007 - 3:19 PM Tampa Bay (18-20-2) at Minnesota (21-17-2) 8:00 pm ESTST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Wild enjoyed their eight-game home winning streak so much earlier this season, they decided to do it again.
The Wild can set a franchise mark with nine straight home triumphs and raise their home record to 18-3-1 on Thursday when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Minnesota won its first eight home contests from October 5-November 2, outscoring their opponents by a 30-17 margin.
The Wild have been just as impressive in their most recent run that began with a victory against the Chicago Blackhawks on December 5. They have a 32-19 edge in goals this time.
Pierre-Marc Bouchard had two goals and an assist and Mark Parrish added a pair of tallies for Minnesota, which posted a 5-1 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday in the third contest of a five-game homestand.
Tampa Bay won three consecutive games prior to Christmas before dropping three of its last four. The Lightning will reach the halfway point of the season in this contest.
Dough Janik scored his first goal of the season and Filip Kuba added his seventh for Tampa Bay, which split a home-and-home series with the Montreal Canadiens in Tuesday's 5-2 loss.
