Maple Leafs seek sweep of home-and-home series with Bruins

BOSTON (Ticker) -- A rash of injuries has meant the Toronto Maple Leafs have not been as successful as they were last season.

The Maple Leafs try to remain above the .500 mark with just their third win in eight games Thursday when they look to sweep their home-and-home series with the Boston Bruins.

Toronto reached the halfway point of the season with five fewer wins and seven fewer points than at the same time in 2005-2006.

In addition to injuries that previously sidelined Mats Sundin and Darcy Tucker, the Maple Leafs are without Michael Peca (broken leg), Kyle Wellwood (groin), Alexei Ponikarovsky (shoulder) and Nik Antropov (ankle).

Sundin scored twice and added an assist, Jeff O'Neill added his 18th and Andrew Raycroft made 27 saves for the Maple Leafs in Monday's 5-1 victory over Boston.

Zdeno Chara opened the scoring for Boston with his seventh tally and Marc Savard recorded his 36th assist. However, it was not enough to prevent the Bruins from their third loss in four outings.

Boston has won four of its six matchups against Toronto this season.
