Ducks honor Selanne; seek to end slump vs. Blue Jackets

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Ducks will salute one of their own before trying to overcome their recent slide.

The Ducks look to win for just the second time in their last six contests and snap a three-game losing streak Friday in their first meeting of the season against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Before the contest, Anaheim will pay tribute to Teemu Selanne, who reached two significant milestones in recent weeks. He scored his 500th goal on November 22 against the Colorado Avalanche and played his 1,000th game on December 31 against the Minnesota Wild.

The third Finnish player and 14th European to reach 1,000 games, the 36-year-old Selanne has 23 goals and leads the team in points (50).

Not even Selanne's consistent play has managed to prevent the Ducks from their longest losing streak of the season. Anaheim tops the league with 62 points, one more than Buffalo, which recently moved past the Ducks for most wins (29).

Ryan Getzlaf scored a power-play goal for Anaheim in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. It was the Ducks' 10th road game in their last 12 outings.

Playing the second of a three-game road trip, the Blue Jackets have lost four of their last six contests and have dropped five straight away from home.

Columbus failed to score on 26 shots on goal in Wednesday's 3-0 defeat to the Los Angeles Kings. It was the Blue Jackets' third shutout loss in their last five road contests.
