Maple Leafs to follow 10-goal outburst vs. Sabres

TORONTO (Ticker) - In their last game, the Toronto Maple Leafs scored goals with the frequency of a video game.

Coming off a sweep of a home-and-home series against the Boston Bruins, the Maple Leafs look for their fourth win in six games in Saturday's encounter with the Buffalo Sabres.

Alex Steen had a hat trick and added two assists and Toronto scored three times in a 42-second span of the second period in Thursday's 10-2 rout of the Bruins. It was the Maple Leafs' highest-scoring road game since November 12, 1998 in Chicago.

Steen, who entered with two goals in his first 37 games, has five tallies in his last five contests.

Bates Battaglia and Matt Stajan added two goals each and Ian White and Thomas Kaberle collected two assists apiece for Toronto, which had a 39-31 edge in shots on goal and outscored Boston, 15-3, in the last two games.

Off to the best 41-game start in franchise history, Buffalo has dropped its last two contests after winning four straight. The Sabres look to become the first team with 30 victories this season.

Chris Drury netted his 21st goal of the season an Ryan Whitney added his seventh for Buffalo in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The teams split their first two encounters this season and will also face each other on Thursday.
