Dallas concludes three-game western trip

Jan 6, 2007 - 5:38 PM Dallas (26-15-1) at Calgary (20-15-4) 10:00 pm EST

CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) - The Dallas Stars look to conclude their three-game western trip on a good note when they visit the Calgary Flames on Saturday.

The Stars, whose 53 points places then sixth in the Western Conference, started their trip with a 2-1 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, but rebounded with a 6-5 shootout triumph against the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.

Sergei Zubov and Jussi Jokinen scored inn the shootout for the Stars, who received a solid outing from Marty Turco. Turco has been solid this season in going 21-12-1 with a 2.19 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.

Like solid netminders do, Turco shook a bad performance and has rebounded. Turco, who had registered shutouts in two straight game against the San Jose Sharks, was pulled after allowing three goals in just nine minutes of a 4-2 loss on December 31.

Turco started an only allowed one goal in the loss to vancouver and was strong again the next night, allowing one goal in 25 minutes against Edmonton after taking over for Mike Smith at the beginning of the third period.

The Flames have been playing well on their current six-game homestand in going 3-1-0. Mike Giordano's third goal of the season gave th Flames a 4-4 overtime win against the Florida Panthers on Thursday, but the news was not all good.

Star winger Jarome Iginla suffered a lower body injury after a fight wit Florida's Bryan Allen in the second period and did not return.
