Surging Coyotes, slumping Backhawks meet

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Phoenix Coyotes and the Chicago Blackhawks clearly are heading in opposite directions.

The Coyotes looks to build on their season-high five-game winning streak Sunday when they visit the slumping Blackhawks.

One of the NHL's worst clubs throughout most of the season, Phoenix surprisingly has shown some grit over its current run, which includes three one-goal victories.

Yanic Perreault was the hero for the Coyotes in their latest win, a 5-4 overtime win over the Atlanta Thrashers on Friday. Perreault netted the game-winner while Shane Doan had two goals for Phoenix.

Another reason for Phoenix's success lately has been the work of goaltender Curtis Joseph, who has won his last four starts while allowing just six goals, four of which came against Atlanta.

The Blackhawks have been struggling lately in losing four of their last five games. Offense has been a problem, as Chicago has only scored 11 goals in its last five games.
