Visnovsky, Kings go for fourth straight home victory

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Lubomir Visnovsky and the Los Angeles Kings certainly have been protecting their home ice of late.

The Kings aim for their fourth consecutive home victory Monday when they host the struggling Edmonton Oilers.

Since losing five of six games here from December 2-19, Los Angeles has reeled off three straight home contests to improve to 11-9-5 at Staples Center this season.

Visnovsky scored two goals and four points over that stretch and has five tallies and four assists in his last six games, leading the Kings to a 4-2-0 record in that span. The blue-liner has 13 goals and 22 assists in 41 games this season.

After defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-0, on Wednesday, the Kings scored a much more impressive victory when they posted a 4-2 triumph here over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.

With the score tied, 2-2, Los Angeles' Michael Cammalleri scored the eventual game-winner when his shot deflected off Detroit defenseman Danny Markov's stick past unprepared netminder Chris Osgood.

Visnovsky, fellow defenseman Rob Blake and Sean Avery also scored for the Kings, who received 32 saves from Mathieu Garon.

The Oilers have lost two straight tough games and eight of their last 10 overall, which included a 7-4 home loss to the Kings on December 28. Their latest defeat came Saturday against Vancouver, which rallied for a 3-2 overtime triumph.
