Hurricanes look to build off crucial win, visit Maple Leafs

TORONTO (Ticker) -- Erik Cole and the Carolina Hurricanes ended their scoring drought in grand fashion at home. They hope to continue their success on the road.

The Hurricanes aim for their second straight win Tuesday when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The reigning Stanley Cup champion, Carolina had dropped three consecutive contests, including back-to-back shutout losses last Tuesday and Thursday.

But the Hurricanes bounced back Saturday with a 4-2 triumph over the New York Islanders.

Cole tallied twice and Justin Williams netted his team-leading 20th goal for the Hurricanes.

Toronto, which scored 15 goals in two wins over the Boston Bruins, came back down to earth in a 4-3 home loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.

Toronto captain Mats Sundin has been a consistent offensive performer of late, collecting six goals and four assists in his last eight games.
