Devils gun for fourth straight win

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils are starting to distance themselves from the rest of the Atlantic Division.

The Devils shoot for their fourth straight win Wednesday when they host the St. Louis Blues.

The reigning division champion, New Jersey has won six of its last seven to build a six-point cushion over the second-place New York Rangers (22-18-4).

Brodeur has been outstanding over that stretch, going 6-0-1 with a 1.43 goals-against average and a .955 save percentage. The two-time Vezina Trophy winner leads the league in wins (25), goals-against average (2.07) and shutouts (7) and is second with a .927 save percentage.

Brodeur recorded his third shutout in a span of 13 days Sunday in New Jersey's 3-0 victory over the Montreal Canadiens. Brodeur stopped 28 shots and Brian Gionta tallied twice for the Devils.

The Blues have won two of their last three, including a 4-3 shootout win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Lee Stempniak scored the deciding goal in the shootout and had two goals in regulation.

Stempniak has been hot lately, scoring three goals during his seven-game points streak.
