Coyotes return home, hope to extend streak

GLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) - The surprisingly scorching Phoenix Coyotes go for their eighth straight win Thursday when they host the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday.

The Coyotes are coming off a perfect five-game road trip that has allowed them to climb to the .500 mark for the first time since October 7.

The trip culminated with Tuesday's 5-2 win at Dallas. Shane Doan led the Coyotes with two goals while defenseman Ed Jovanovski had a goal and an assist.

Doan has four goals in his last two games, but netminder Mikael Tellqvist has really ben hot lately. He has won his last three starts, allowing just six goals and stopping 91 of his last 96 shots.

The Red Wings are coming off Tuesday's 4-3 shootout victory over Colorado that ended a three-game losing streak. Henrik Zetterberg scored two goals in regulation and scored the decisive goal in the shootout.

Zetterberg has been productive lately for Detroit, getting five goals and six assists in his last 11 games.
