Lightning aim to avoid another disaster in Buffalo

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- The last time the Tampa Bay Lightning visited the Buffalo Sabres they fell victim to an awesome display of firepower in a 7-2 loss.

The Lightning are looking for a vastly different outcome when they visit the Sabres again on Saturday.

Buffalo was not so awesome in its last home game, a 4-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday. Thomas Vanek and Chris Drury each scored their team-leading 23rd goals for the Sabres.

After getting the night off against the Maple leafs, Ryan Miller should be back in goal for Buffalo. Miller is 22-7-2 with a 2.62 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage. He ranks fifth in wins this season and eighth in save percentage.

The Lightning have been playing well lately in winning three straight, including two over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Tampa Bay's third straight win was a 5-4 triumph over the Washington Capitals on Thursday. Martin St. Louis netted the game-winning goal in the third period to give the Lightning the win.

St. Louis, the MVP in the 2003-04 season, is tied with Washington's Alex Ovechkin and Anaheim's Teemu Selanne for the league lead with 28 goals.
