Surprising Coyotes look to bounce back vs. surging Blues

GLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) -- After reeling off one of the NHL's most surprising runs, the Phoenix Coyotes appear to have returned to form.

The Coyotes look to snap their two-game skid and start another winning streak Monday when they host the St. Louis Blues.

One of the league's worst clubs over the first three months of the season, Phoenix clawed its way back to the .500 mark thanks to an improbably seven-game winning streak from December 28-January 9.

But the Coyotes have been pounded in losing consecutive home contests, dropping a 5-1 decision to the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday before being downed, 4-1, by the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.

Goaltender Curtis Joseph had a bad night between the pipes in the loss to San Jose, allowing four goals on just 20 shots. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Joseph, who had only yielded just six goals during his streak.

Despite being tied with lowly Chicago for 12th place in the Western Conference, the Blues have won three straight games, including a wild 6-5 triumph over Los Angeles on Saturday.

Doug Weight and Dennis Wideman both registered a goal and two assists for St. Louis, which has not had a four-game winning streak this season.
