Thrashers begin long stretch of home games

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Thrashers hope to regain some ground at home after a long road stretch.

Atlanta seeks to win for just the second time in seven contests when they host the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday.

After playing eight of their last nine games on the road, the first-place Thrashers play eight of their next nine at home, where they are 11-5-4. Atlanta holds a five-point lead over the Carolina Hurricanes in the Southeast Division.

The Thrashers are coming off Saturday's 4-3 shootout triumph over the Hurricanes, snapping a five-game losing streak. Vyacheslav Kozlov netted the clincher and Bobby Holik scored his ninth goal of the season midway through the third period.

The Thrashers are looking for a little more success against the Kings, who have won seven of the nine previous meetings and are 3-0-1 here. Los Angeles has outscored Atlanta, 42-22.

The Kings have lost their last four games, have the most defeats in the Western Conference (25) and are tied with St. Louis and Columbus for fewest wins in the West (16).

Los Angeles fell to the Dallas Stars for the sixth time in as many meetings this season with Monday's 3-1 defeat. Michael Cammalleri scored his 18th goal of the season.
