Huet looks to lead Canadiens to rare win over Canucks
Jan 16, 2007 - 3:20 PM Vancouver (25-19-1) at Montreal (25-16-5) 7:30 pm ESTMONTREAL (Ticker) -- Although he is headed to his first All-Star Game next week, Cristobal Huet has a couple of hurdles to overcome.
Huet is expected to be back in goal for the Montreal Canadiens, who look for just their third win in eight contests Tuesday when they host the Vancouver Canucks.
The 31-year-old Huet is 17-9-3 with a 2.63 goals-against average this season, but has dropped three of his last four decisions. He yielded six goals in just 25 minutes for Montreal in last Saturday's loss to the Otawa Senators.
Backup netminder David Aebischer, who replaced Huet on Saturday, fared a little better Monday against the Detroit Red Wings. However, he received little support from his teammates in a 2-0 loss.
Huet is winless in four career appearances against Vancouver, which is unbeaten in its last nine encounters against the Canadiens, including a 6-2 triumph in their meeting last January 21.
The Canucks have won eight of their last nine contests and seek a fifth consecutive road triumph.
Vancouver is coming off Saturday's 6-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Daniel Sedin had a goal and three assists and twin brother Henrik set up three others for the Canucks, who netted five power-play tallies.
