Maple Leafs open three-game road trip vs. Lightning

TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- Perhaps a few games away from home can help spark a turnaround for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Maple Leafs go for just their second victory in five games Tuesday when they open a three-game road trip against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

After scoring 10 goals against the Boston Bruins on January 4, Toronto has dropped three of four. Ironically, the Maple Leafs have won their last three road contests - raising their mark away from home to 10-8-3 - and dropped their last two at home.

Toronto yielded five power-play goals in Saturday's 6-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks. Bates Battaglia netted his seventh tally for the Maple Leafs, who had a 36-21 advantage in shots on goal.

Tampa Bay is looking for its first six-game winning streak since an eight-game run from February 25-March 6, 2004, en route to its only Stanley Cup title.

The Lightning are coming off Monday's 4-3 triumph over the New York Islanders. Martin St. Louis scored his 29th goal and Vincent Lecavalier added his 28th for Tampa Bay.

Toronto has won the last three matchups against the Lightning, including a 5-4 victory on December 12. Chad Kilger scored twice for the Maple Leafs.
