Bruins aim for home-and-home sweep of struggling Sabres

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- The Boston Bruins aim for an improbable sweep while the Buffalo Sabres look to exact a measure of revenge.

The Bruins seek to sweep their home-and-home series with the Sabres when the clubs square off Wednesday at HSBC Arena.

The Bruins, who had lost two previous meetings with the Sabres this season, rallied for a 3-2 shootout triumph over Buffalo in Boston on Monday.

Marco Sturm scored the lone goal in the shootout while netminder Tim Thomas stopped 34 shots for Boston, which snapped a three-game skid.

Buffalo All-Star Ryan Miller finished with 35 saves but could not help the Sabres avoid their season-high third straight loss.

The NHL's highest-scoring club, Buffalo has managed a total of just six goals during its skid.
